Colours 2016
The 68th Annual Colours Boat Races take place this Saturday 12th March 2016.
UCD Men to race on the North Station
The 2016 Annual Colours Boat Race coin toss was presided over by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh this morning. UCD won the toss for the men’s event with Trinity winning for the women’s.
Erne Head of the River
With the Gannon Cup 8+ concentrating on their Colours preparation, UCD’s Intermediate 8+ lead our representation at Erne of the River on 5th March.
February Trials Update
UCD Boat Club members Shane O’Connell, David O’Malley and Shane Mulvaney travelled to the National Rowing Centre for trials on February 28th.
Irish Indoor Rowing Championships 2016
UCDBC placed 1st (Paul O’Donovan), 2nd (Shane Mulvaney) and 4th (David O’Malley) in the U23 Lightweight category at the 2016 IIRC, with Paul recording a fantastic 6:07.5 score. Martin Connor of UCDBC also placed 2nd in the Novice category.
Seville Training Camp
30 athletes and 3 coaches departed to Seville in January for a warm weather (and storm-free) training camp. Well over 300km were clocked up across 9 days that included some valuable races against Cambridge University Lightweight RC and Upper Thames RC which will stand to our crews as they enter the racing season back home.
Plum Pudding Cup
December saw the inaugural Plum Pudding Cup which gave current and past members the chance to race together in mixed 8s at Islandbridge and enjoy the tea/coffee, cakes and festive atmosphere. UCD Boat Club are “Growing a Mo for Movember”. We’ve set up a Moteam to help change the face of men’s cancer by either growing a Mo for Movember or by taking the MOVE challenge.
