Islandbridge

The club’s ‘home’ is the UCD Boathouse on the River Liffey in Islandbridge, Dublin 8, shared with UCD Ladies Boat Club and Old Collegians Boat Club.

The Boathouse is situated on the North side of the river along the Chapelizod Road beside Commercial, Neptune and Garda Boat Clubs.

This is where all squads start their season, and where the Novice squad hone their skills before taking to the wider expanse of Blessington.

The Boathouse lies on a 1.8 km stretch of river which is easily accessible from the city. It is also the departure point for crews competing on the lower Liffey through the centre of Dublin City.

Directions to Islandbridge

By Bike: Most members cycle to the boathouse from UCD by cycling towards town until you come to the Canal Road. Turn left and stay on the Canal Road until you cross the Luas track, head straight through Kilmainham & across the N4. Once you go over Islandbridge Bridge, turn left and it’s the first boathouse you come to. Roughly a 30 minute journey from UCD.

By Bus: Alternatively, you can hop on the 80 Dublin Bus, which starts from Dartry. Alight at the UCD Boat Club stop and continue walking to the boathouse.

Blessington

UCD Boat Club is a member of the Dublin Metropolitan group of clubs which operates a boathouse on the reservoir in Blessington, Co. Wicklow.

The boathouse allows access to the vast expanse of Blessington lakes for training and competition. Our Senior squad train from this base all year round. The boat house is approximately 40 minutes drive from UCD with the squad travelling by carpool.

After a number of years of falling short, our reserve boat has brought the Naggon Cup back to UCD. This win is a reflection of the growth in our squad depth, and a foundation to build on as we set our sights on the upcoming races over the next few weeks.#honcollege #adastra #coloursboatraces

On its 21st edition, UCDBC have reclaimed the Dan Quinn Shield, ending a six-year drought since our last victory in 2018. Through an outstanding performance from our novice squad, the Shield has returned back to Belfield! 🏆🔵Novice rowing is key to what we do at UCDBC. A club of our ambition is only as strong as the next generation it builds, and we take enormous pride in welcoming, developing, and inspiring new rowers each and every year. Today’s result is a testament to the dedication of this year’s novice squad and the coaches who have worked tirelessly to bring out the best in them. This achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and partners:Dublin City Council Gannon + Associates Landscape ArchitectureValentia PartnersTechretePaul RomerilSL RacingMurray Consultants📸 Photos courtesy of @tjobrienpifer frankiedolphin @vaarjak @sportsfile #HonCollege #AdAstra #ColoursBoatRaces
