Senior 8 wins at Trinity Regatta

Although some events were curtailed by a lack of entries the centrepiece was again UCD vs Trinity in the Mens Senior 8+, with College prevailing by 2 1/4 lengths.
The first UCD race of the day was Mens Club 8+ where injury forced the crew to stop mid-race.

In Mens Club 4+ UCD B progressed through their quarter-final against Sligo but were eliminated in the semi-final by the more experienced Neptune crew. UCD A were given a bye to the semi-final where they beat Garda by one length. Neptune were the winners in the final.

Coman O’Connell raced well in the Mens Club 1x, finishing 3 lengths behind Shannon’s Conor Carmody.

Cork Boat Club did not travel meaning that Mens Intermediate 8+ and Mens Intermediate 4+ were rowovers for UCD.

UCD’s Mens Senior 2- of David O’Malley and Shane Mulvaney also rowed over their semi-final scheduled with Cork Boat Club, going on to win their final easily against KSRV ‘Njord’.

Mens Senior 4+ was not raced as UCD were the only entrants.

The club’s last race of the day was the Mens Senior 8+, a straight final between UCD and Trinity. UCD started very well and had a length by the first major bend which was in Trinity’s favour. UCD held their advantage around this bend and down the middle straight before using their own bend and the final straight to open out their lead.
