Two UCD entries for Temple Challenge Cup at Henley

2009 marks the 35th anniversary of UCD’s 1974 win in the Ladies’ Plate at Henley Royal Regatta. This year UCD will have two 8+’s competing for the Temple Challenge Cup after UCD’s Intermediate crew successfully qualified from Friday’s timetrial Qualifying Rounds to join UCD’s Senior boat who were honoured to have been one of the event’s selected crews. The Senior crew will face an Eton College crew in Wednesday’s 1st round at 5.05pm and the Intermediate boat will face Shrewsbury School in their first test at 7pm. Should both UCD crews be successful, UCD ‘A’ will face UCD ‘B’ in Thursday’s 2nd round.

Irish interest: Temple: Queen’s Belfast vs. Cambridge Univ Lightweights, Trinity vs. Bates College USA , Thames: Commercial RC vs. Abingdon RC, Galway RC vs. Mortlake Anglian & Alpha BC, Visitors: Galway RC vs. Mercyhurst Col. USA (Thursday), NUIG vs. Cardiff Univ & Durham School (Thursday), Wyfolds: Commercial RC vs. Sydney RC Australia, Prince of Wales: Old Collegians/London vs. Tideway Scullers & Molesey BC (Thursday), Britannia: Fermoy RC vs Reading RC, Diamonds: Mannion (NUIG) vs. Mackworth-Praed (Thursday).
