Achievements celebrated at Annual Dinner

Current and past members came together with families and supporters to honour the achievements of the 2017/18 season at the Annual Dinner, held in conjunction with Old Collegians.

The dinner was an opportunity for the club to acknowledge its members who won major honours during the season including Irish Championships in Mens Novice 8+, Mens Intermediate 8+ and Mens Senior 4-.

On top of these were achievements on the International stage where David O’Malley and Shane Mulvaney took Gold in U23 Mens Lightweight 2- while Andrew Goff stroked the U23 Mens Lightweight 4x that won Silver. Old Collegians also honoured Sanita Puspure for a fantastic win in the Womens 1x World Championships and presented the new Sanita Puspure Trophy for Womens Intermediate 1x at the Irish Championships.

Ned Sullivan (President) and Martin Feeley (Coach) spoke on behalf of UCD Boat Club while Murrough O’Brien (President) spoke for Old Collegians.

It was a wonderful occasion to bring different eras of UCD rowing together and a fitting tribute to the tremendous work put in by UCD athletes last season.

Thank you to UCD for their assistance in organising the night and to our guests for their continued support. A special mention to Ciaran Gannon and Peter Stone for again making the trip to Ireland to support the club.

UCD Men’s and Ladies Boat Clubs are proud to officially unveil the newly renovated erg room in the UCD Sports Centre. We firmly believe that training is best done together, and after many years of collaboration with UCD Sport, we are delighted to have worked in partnership to create a high-quality space that enables our athletes to perform at their very best. Many of our alumni will remember erging on balconies, in hallways, or in shared gym spaces. Today, we are proud to finally have a dedicated home for one of the most important aspects of our training.Featuring new full-height mirrors, improved ventilation with large air circulation fans, and walls lined with historic moments from the club’s past, the room has quickly become an environment that athletes are excited to train in.Importantly, this space is not just for our competitive squads. The renovation means that more people across UCD can experience indoor rowing, from staff classes to student participation programmes. The response to this year’s Learn to Erg classes has been excellent, with both staff and students now learning and training in the room. It is encouraging to see the sport growing beyond the club itself. As we settle into this new space, we are inviting alumni to contribute pennants and memorabilia from their time at UCD so that we can showcase and celebrate the many triumphs across the club’s long history. If you have items you would like displayed, please get in touch.A sincere thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this possible and also Wall Art for the great work putting it all together. We hope this marks the beginning of many more historic achievements for UCD Rowing.#HonCollege & #AdAstra
