Just two days after the Colours Races, UCD crews were racing again over the 1,800m Trinity Regatta course in Islandbridge. The final of the Men’s Senior 8+ saw UCD take on Trinity, with UCD having beaten Neptune and Trinity having beaten NUIG in the semi-finals. In a similar performance to the Gannon Cup Race, the UCD crew finished a length in front, retaining the Senior 8 Trophy for the 2nd year in a row. The UCD Senior 4+ also performed strongly, winning the final comfortably over Commercial RC.The UCD Intermediates showed marked improvement since Neptune Regatta, reaching the final of the 8s, where they were narrowly beaten by Trinity and winning the Intermediate 4+’s in an all UCD final. The final of the Novice 8s was a rematch of Thursday’s Dan Quinn race. Unfortunately, Trinity again took an early lead and were able to extend this to a length and a half by the finish.
All in all, improvement was shown and some valuable racing experience was gained for the University Championships which were held the following Friday.
