UCD’s Intermediate 8+ was the fastest crew at St. Michael’s Head which ran on the River Shannon through Limerick City for the first time in 25 years.
The usual venue of O’Briens Bridge was out of action due to flooding so organisers moved into the city and were rewarded with relatively calm conditions for the majority of the course.
The UCD 8+ used it as race practice before they depart for the Roeivierkamp in Amsterdam in two weeks time. In a borrowed boat kindly lent by Athlunkard Boat Club they finished 4 seconds clear of NUIG’s Senior entry. It was a useful exercise that will hopefully stand to them for the coming season.
Many thanks to Athlunkard for the use of their boat and to St. Michael’s for an excellently run event.
