The Intermediate and Club 1 crews were fastest in their categories but the Senior boat collided with a safety launch.
The first competitive outing of the season for UCD saw no fewer than five crews take to the water in Enniskillen for the 2017 Erne Head of the River.
The Senior 8+ were racing well and gaining ground on the opposition but a collision with a safety launch towards the end of the course saw them stopped mid-race and ended any realistic chance of them winning the event. They finished in 18:49, 19 seconds behind winners Trinity, a reasonable result given the mishap.
The Intermediate 8+ were the fastest in their category, finishing in 19:00 and 22 seconds clear of 2nd placed Trinity after a comparatively straightforward race with some overtaking the only difficulty.
The Club 1 8+ were the only crew in their category, finishing in 19:56.
Two UCD boats were in the Novice 8+ category, UCD A finishing 2nd in 20:26, 22 seconds behind winners Trinity and UCD B finishing in 22:04.
The results set the scene for the Annual Colours Races, taking place 18th March on the Liffey between UCD and Trinity.
