The UCDBC senior 8+ was fastest over the reduced course at this year’s Dublin head of the river race. Departing from the Ha’ penny bridge on a glourious Saturday morning, UCD covered the course in 10 minutes 29 seconds.
The UCD intermediate crew covered the course in 11 minutes finishing 2nd in the category. The 2nd boat of the UCD novices came 4th in their category in 11 minutes 55 seconds after rigorously fighting their way through the sharp corners of the Liffey and overtaking the precending crew in a strong finish.
The 1st boat of the UCD novices was racing extremly well the first three-quarters of the distance and it seemed likely that they would win in their category. Unfortunately, while racing for the finish line, an oar got stuck in the bank of the Liffey resulting in an overall time of 17 minutes and 45 seconds.
